“Eventually they will have a romance. But it will happen slowly and gradually.” - Bruno Heller
JISBON WILL HAPPEN, have some faith!
Reblogging again, because I CAN’T HEAR THAT OFTEN ENOUGH!
No, he spoke about Jisbon- it was in an interview from 2009, but I don’t know if I can find the source again…
Meh, I only found the Spanish translation on the Red Blog, it’s here:
Here’s the translated article. Looks like you’re right. It references the quote as having taken place in an interview with Heller three months previous. Sorry for the jolt. I thought this might be the quote that was in a very poorly written article a couple months back that didn’t even have full quotation marks around a quote and really amounted to the author’s opinion and reactions rather than actual news. I don’t know if anyone remembers that. Anyway, the translation (I emphasized the quote to make it easy to spot). Bing translated the word for “romance” as “affair”:

TV GUIDE – Drama, tension and a lot of work on the second season of The Mentalist
The latest edition ofTV Guidebrings Robin Tunney and Simon Baker on the cover and many revelations on the contents of the magazine. The American TV’s sexiest cast, according to a survey from AOL, has her work cut out to overcome the overwhelming first season, and work is with this class.
Bruno Heller Announces: “everybody’s got something not revealed about their pasts.Somehow, everyone has a wound “. The Patrick Jane we already know very well, and the other characters? The “fortunate” of time seems to be the head of the former faux-psychic, Teresa Lisbon. In Red Tidethird episode of the first season, we learned that Lisbon had the dead mother in a car accident when she was still a child and his father became an alcoholic who killed himself and nearly “blew” their children too. And once again in the third episode the Green-eyed brunette will have serious problems with their memories. Robin Tunney has let the hint: “you’re going to see how she’s suffered”. InRed Badge, Lisbon will be charged for the murder of a child molester, and her psychoanalyst (played by Christian Clemenson) try questionable ways, bringing up the past disruptive agent.
The most enigmatic character, Asian Kimball Cho, will also have their dramas revealed. Cho, who loves a book, would have been part of a gang when he was young. Tim Kang let slip that over the course of the season we will know why Cho is so closed. Already in relation to Patrick Jane the drama only increases. With the tragic end of the last investigation of Red John, who was the Chief witness murdered, Virgil Minelli (Gregory Itzin) will take the case of Lisbon and Jane and will deliver the Sam Bosco (Terry Kinney), who reportedly will not face the charming CBI consultant. ”He won’t let the Red John case escape out of his hand. He can’t. Drives his life, “says Simon. In addition to the case of the serial killer who murdered his wife and child taken from his hands, Jane will have another reason to dislike Sam Bosco: the ancient and mysterious involvement of new boss with Lisbon. ”There’s no telling if their secret is sexually or something that happened professionally. But one thing I say: has something to do with power “, according to Robin. In “Season Premier”, Redemption, which will air next Thursday, 24, a phrase reflects how coexistence between Jane and Bosco: “You’re not a detective, you are a clown!” says Bosco.
The always humorous actress of 37 years and the Australian Heartthrob aren’t too willing to accept a possible romance between their characters. At least that’s what they say. The reason? A brotherly relationship between the two. But wait, not between Jane and Lisbon, but specifically between Robin and Simon. Both admit the sexual tension between the two characters, who spend most of their time arguing and flirting, but Robin doesn’t want anything to do with “get naked” in front of the handsome anytime soon. ”Look, Simon is a cat and if we have to write something is ’ I’m naked, you too. Us beats ‘, but not now! I know him so well that he’s like my brother. That would be too humiliating and embarrassing. Many fans want-at least I think-and this is very funny. But I hope that doesn’t happen. “ So no “Jisbon” or “Jello” for the time being, or would be masked? For the “misery” of the two, Bruno Heller said three months ago that “eventually they’re going to have an affair. But it will happen slowly and gradually. “ Red John will like to know that, wouldn’t you?
Well, for now the romance of the series will be on behalf of Van Pelt (Amanda Righetti) and Rigsby (Owain Yeoman). Finally the agents will go a step further. Problems in sight? Many. The relationship of the two may result in problems at work. ”A novel, if it is discovered, can bring a lot of problems in the workplace, so have a lot of tension in that sense,” declares Yeoman. The Briton also joked about the success of the series: “here is the reason for the series to be a success: great scripts, great actors and beautiful hair. The truth is it’s all thanks to Simon’s hair “.
Other facts about the two main actors in the series.First the Mentalist Patrick Jane and its beautiful golden locks – the secret of the success of the series second Yeoman. Simon Baker is a perfectionist. For him the success is a result of hard work and the little details, so he wants everything done in the best possible way. While watching a scene at little recorded, that the directors were very good, Simon got a bit dismayed. The actor even suggested some changes in the lines and in the guidelines. 1 actress already, four had another reason to feel “butterflies”.With the end of the first season Robin was invited to a lunch with Heller and executive producer Chris Long. ”The first thing that came to mind was: ’ To fired! ‘,” quipped Tunney. ”At first I wasn’t quite sure about this part, because I’ve always had a tendency to make girls drugged and drunk, never a boss! But after I calmed down “they spent almost three hours if plagued by faults and defects in the first season and wanted to learn from mistakes.”
Missing a few days for the premiere of the second season, so start making your bets: Jane will find Red John?Rigsby and Van Pelt will have an affair? (That was easy) What is the secret between Lisbon and Bosco? What all this has in the past tormentor of the head of the major Crimes Unit? As Patrick Jane will control his obsession for revenge? How he will react being put out of investigations of Red John? Cho finally give a smile? Day 24 of September these questions begin to be answered and hopefully many other arise.

"Romance" is clearly not a Portuguese term, that’s why the translators are overwhelmed and don’t know how to translate it properly- I think whoever translated this from English to Portuguese in the first place just left the English term "romance" because he/she couldn’t really find a better one- by the way: if I were supposed to find a good GERMAN translation for "romance" I would be hard-pressed, too… the term is very specific, but we all know what it means ;)…
Just to be clear, I co-created this blog in 2009 with a friend who’s no longer online, called Sofia. This post was supposed to introduce S2, and it was one of the first published on the blog, based on a TV Guide article and on an interview with BH and Chris Long, published by the end of S1. When he said “eventually they’ll will have a romance”, he was referring mostly, of course, to Rigsby and Van Pelt, but not only them, it was about the whole show, all the characters. I’m not the person who wrote it, my friend Sofia did, but I helped to translate some parts for her, I can assure you all I know pretty well what romance means. She was a hardcore J/L shipper, probably that’s why she used it also for them, as a form of hope, idk, you’d had to ask her yourselves. THE WHOLE POST IS AN OPINION BASED ON SOME INTERVIEWS. And romance IS also a portuguese word, means exactly the same thing. But if you guys haven’t noticed yet, again, this is an opinion article, published on a fan blog. She left a couple of months after S2 started and things changed, even the header did. The blog then was only mine, even if a few people helped me through the years. I tried, as a graduated journalist, to publish only spoilers, news, press releases, photos, etc, taken from reliable sources such as TV Guide, EW.com, TV|Line, CBS Press Express, and not my opinion on anything. And also, one year after it or so, I stopped translating stuff to portuguese because I noticed the biggest amount of the visitors were from US and UK. I had no idea this simple blog would have so many visitors. Last time I checked, it had more than 800,000 hits, so I guess people used to appreciate my work, if you can call it work. Red Blog is now closed because I have no time to update it as I used to and I have no one to help me with it, unfortunately. But it still bothers me when people use posts from opinion sites as a source of spoilers and anything else nowadays, and I see it A LOT, something I, Vanessa, would never do. If I had any idea someone would dig into the very first posts and use this shit I’d have deleted it years ago, even if it wasn’t mine. Tbh I didn’t even remember this existed. So stick with the reliable sources, please, guys. Hope it’s clear now and I’m sorry if it confused any of you. I do feel responsible because the blog also belonged to me after all.
PS: Brazilians speak portuguese, not spanish, they’re very different languages.
If I’m not wrong, I don’t have the interview, it’s been too long, it was asked about the possibility of (any) romance on the show, I believe Chris was the one who answered, “eventually we’ll go there”.
